New Year, New Why
The new year can be a time to reflect on your previous successes and challenges, to set new goals and intentions for the months ahead and to reset, recharge and renew.
It can also be a time when you feel the pressure to lose weight, get fit, eat right, get organized, manage your time, manage your mind and become a whole new you.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m all for personal growth and self-improvement… for the right reasons.
Maybe you want to start a new diet, limit alcohol, or start going to bed on time.
Maybe you want to stop procrastinating or doom scrolling social media.
Maybe you want to join a gym.
Maybe you want to start meditating, journaling or meal planning .
Maybe you want to leave earlier for work to avoid running late.
Maybe you want to start getting coached by me.
But why?
Because you’ll be a failure if you don’t?
Because these are the things you are “supposed” to do?
Because doing these things will make you more acceptable/normal/lovable?
What if instead of telling yourself these stories, you did these things because you love yourself?
What if instead of inventing a whole new you, you started loving the you that already exists?
What if instead of holding onto these limiting beliefs you let them go?
Imagine if this year, your new why was because you want what’s best for you. Not because you are a hot mess. Not because you need to get your shit together. Not because you don’t want to let everyone down.
But because you deserve it.
What if your new why was because you want to show up as your best self?
What if your new why was because you want more?
What if your new why was because you choose you?
You can change the narrative. You can stop beating yourself up. You can start being kind.
Plus, you can’t hate yourself skinny.
You’ve got this. I believe in you.
